More than $12,000 raised with some creative support through Groupon

DENVER, Colo., September 13, 2011 – The YMCA of Metropolitan Denver and Solterra, a master-planned community in west metro Denver’s foothills, raised more than $12,000 to support after-school programs at the 2nd Annual Solterra Wine Festival. More than half of the tickets were sold through a Groupon offering 60 percent off the price of a ticket.

On August 13, Solterra hosted the wine festival featuring Colorado wines and local cuisine, donating all ticket sales to the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver. This fundraising event helps the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver continue to impact the lives of youth around the Metro Denver area.

“The money raised will support our continuing effort to help Denver metro area reach their highest potential and enjoy increased well-being,” said Jim Hiner, president and CEO for the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver. “We are happy to partner with Solterra again this year and appreciate their ongoing efforts to help Denver area kids.”

Last year, the event raised $6,000 for the organization and there were approximately 150 attendees. This year, nearly 600 people raised a toast to the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver.
This event was created by Solterra to support the after-school programs provided by the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver. All Solterra event programming, held at The Retreat, the community’s clubhouse, is coordinated by the YMCA and its staff. The YMCA also manages all programs at Tallyn’s Reach in Aurora and Brighton Crossing in Brighton, sister communities of Solterra, developed by Brookfield Residential Properties.

The YMCA of Metropolitan Denver has been positively impacting lives since 1875. Supporting the futures of young people, the YMCA offers many programs, including After School, Youth Sports, Aquatics and Summer Day Camps. The Y’s focus is youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Solterra offers low-maintenance patio homes (low $400s), single-family homes (low $400s- high $800s), and custom homes ($800s – $2 million). To learn more, please visit or call 303.790.6611.
